The AI Paraphrasing and Rewriting tools have been developed to help students better communicate their research
Today, we announce Duey.ai’s improved AI Paraphrasing and Rewriting tools. These new tools have been developed based on user feedback in mind, as we aim to help students better communicate their research findings and thoughts through the written word. We know that often, after a long research and information-gathering session, the most challenging part of completing your work is effectively presenting your knowledge in a manner that conveys your ideas and innovations while meeting the desired tone your audience (teachers, in this case) expect. With our new tools, we’re here to help!
There are many reasons why you might need help with rewriting your schoolwork:
With the many challenges you may face when completing your schoolwork, your work must be judged on the merits of your research and thoughts. With our new paraphrasing and rewriting tools, we can help you ensure that writing doesn’t hinder your communication ability.
To use our paraphrasing and rewriting tools, you simply have to add your document to Duey.ai. Once added, you can write naturally in your voice and to the best of your ability. If you think your written text needs help, highlight it and choose “Rewrite” from our toolbar.
From the Rewrite menu, you can choose to Improve Fluency, Paraphrase, Simplify, or Make Longer.
The "Improve Fluency" option aims to help rewrite the text so that it is more readable and clearly written. We use a scoring system that assesses the text’s readability on several levels, then rewrite to improve those metrics.
Paraphrasing is useful when trying to change the tone of the writing. For example, you may choose to Paraphrase Academically if your writing needs to sound more in line with your institution's style. You can also paraphrase your text using the Casual, Persuasive, Bold, or Friendly styles.
If you have the challenge of writing in a slightly disorganized style, where you might place a series of thoughts that you need help sorting, the "Simplify" option might be best for you. Simplifying will take the text you highlighted and rewrite it in a way that helps the reader more easily understand your thoughts. Again, you can choose your tone from Academic, Casual, Persuasive, Bold, or Friendly styles.
The "Make Longer" option helps you expand on your writing to help you round out your paragraphs and make connections between thoughts that you have written. Some students struggle to write too linearly and without properly connecting thoughts from one paragraph to the next. The "Make Longer" option can help you expand on your text while keeping your thoughts your own.
Paraphrase and Rewriting tools powered by AI can be valuable assets for students looking to improve their academic writing skills. These tools address many of the common issues students face when crafting their assignments, helping them to communicate their ideas more effectively and confidently.
By offering suggestions for clearer phrasing, more appropriate vocabulary, and improved sentence structures, these tools can help students better articulate their thoughts and arguments. This enhances the quality of their work and serves as a learning opportunity, allowing students to see how their ideas can be expressed more eloquently. Moreover, for non-native speakers or those struggling with language skills, these tools can bridge the gap between their subject knowledge and their ability to express it in writing, ensuring that language barriers don't unfairly impact their academic performance.
It's important to note that these tools should be used as aids for learning and improvement, not as substitutes for developing one's writing skills. When used responsibly, paraphrasing and Rewriting tools can help students understand the nuances of effective academic writing, ultimately improving their communication abilities. This can boost students' confidence in their writing and help them focus more on developing and articulating their ideas rather than getting stuck on writing mechanics.
